What is Paint Protection Film?
Paint Protection Film (PPF) — also known as clear bra — is a thermoplastic urethane (TPU) film applied to your vehicle's painted surfaces. Unlike sprays or coatings that work on a molecular level, PPF is a physical barrier that absorbs and deflects real-world impacts before they can damage your paint.
Modern PPF is engineered with multiple layers: a polyester release liner, a pressure-sensitive adhesive, the TPU film core, and a self-healing clear coat top layer. This construction gives the film its ability to resist rock chips and road debris while repairing minor surface scratches on its own with the application of heat.
At ACR Detailing in Scarborough, we install paint protection film from XPEL, SunTek, and ProTech — on high-impact zones like front bumpers, hoods, fenders, mirrors, and door edges, or on the entire vehicle for maximum coverage. Each installation uses precision-cut digital templates specific to your vehicle's exact make and model, ensuring clean edge wraps and a seamless appearance.
For vehicles in Ontario — where Scarborough road salt, 401 gravel spray, and harsh winters create constant paint hazards — PPF is one of the most practical investments a car owner can make. Combined with a ceramic coating on top, you get a system that physically blocks debris impacts and chemically repels salt and contamination. Many of our clients also add window tinting to complete the full protection package for Scarborough driving conditions.
Benefits of PPF
Paint protection film provides physical protection that no coating alone can match — stopping damage before it reaches your paint.
Self-Healing Technology
Premium PPF contains an elastomeric polymer top coat that allows light surface scratches and swirl marks to vanish on their own when exposed to heat — from the sun or warm water.
Invisible Protection
Modern PPF is optically clear and virtually invisible once installed. It preserves the original colour and finish of your paint while providing a physical barrier against damage.
Rock Chip Defense
The film absorbs the impact energy from stone chips, road debris, and gravel, preventing paint chips that lead to rust and corrosion — especially on high-impact areas like the hood and front bumper.
Preserves Resale Value
A vehicle with factory-perfect paint in rock-chip-free condition commands significantly higher resale value. Vehicles with clean, chip-free paint sell for more. PPF keeps it that way.

Our PPF Installation Process
Precision, patience, and the right environment make the difference between a flawless installation and one that falls short.
Consultation & Coverage Plan
We assess your vehicle and discuss which areas need protection — whether partial front-end, full hood, full vehicle wrap, or targeted high-impact zones. We recommend coverage based on your driving habits.
Template Cutting
Using precise digital templates matched to your vehicle's exact make, model, and year, we cut the film to perfectly fit every panel — no guesswork, no excessive trimming on the car.
Surface Preparation
The vehicle is thoroughly washed, decontaminated, and wiped with an IPA solution. Any existing paint defects in the application area are corrected to ensure a clean, smooth surface.
Film Installation
Film panels are applied with a slip solution and carefully squeegeed into position, eliminating air bubbles, fingers, and tension. Edge wraps are used on exposed edges for a factory-seamless look.
Quality Inspection
Every panel is inspected under high-intensity lighting for lifts, contamination, or imperfections before the vehicle is returned. We walk you through aftercare instructions at delivery.
PPF for Scarborough Drivers
Scarborough drivers put more highway kilometres on their vehicles than most of the GTA. The 401 runs straight across the north end of the city, the DVP feeds into downtown from the west, and Kingston Rd and Lawrence East carry the daily grind to and from work. That means constant exposure to gravel kicked up by transport trucks, salt-and-sand slush through winter, and pothole-edge impact from the spring thaw. Paint protection film is the one service that prevents the damage before it happens.
ACR Detailing is an authorized installer for XPEL, SunTek, LLumar, and ProTech — four of the films most commonly spec'd by Tesla, Porsche, and BMW dealers in Ontario. Every installation is done in-shop by Aidan, in a climate-controlled bay at 29 Oakmeadow Blvd, using pre-cut bulk film (not pattern kits) so the panel edges wrap properly and the film seams stay invisible on resale inspection. Full front, partial front, track packages, and full-body installs are all available — starting at partial-front coverage and going up to full body wraps on high-end vehicles.
We install PPF for drivers from Agincourt, Malvern, Guildwood, Birch Cliff, Woburn, Wexford, Highland Creek, Rouge, and every other Scarborough neighbourhood. Build and price a PPF package with our interactive configurator or call (647) 963-5524 for a free quote.

Why PPF Matters in Scarborough
Scarborough driving beats up front-end paint in ways most cities don't. Paint protection film is the only measure that actually stops it.
401 + 404 commuters
Highway stone chips
Sustained highway speed multiplies gravel impact energy. Drivers commuting from Agincourt, Malvern, or Milliken see the heaviest paint damage on front bumpers, hoods, and fenders — exactly where PPF goes first.
Ontario winter
Salt pitting + crystalline abrasion
Crystallized road salt abrades paint at the rocker panels and behind the wheels. PPF prevents the pitting that becomes permanent corrosion spots by year three or four of ownership.
Plaza parking
Door edges + mirrors
Scarborough mall lots (Agincourt, Pacific, Malvern Town Centre) are tight and busy. PPF on door edges and mirror caps prevents the dings and paint-lift that come from cart strikes and neighboring doors.
Protect Your Paint Before It's Too Late
Rock chips and road damage are permanent — PPF prevents them from happening in the first place. Use our configurator to build your custom quote, or contact ACR Detailing in Scarborough to book your PPF consultation.
